Sumner County residents are reportedly “confused” about a robocall that mentions, among other things, failing government schools. CLICK HERE.
The Superintendent of Schools takes offense at the language, even though it was not referencing Sumner County specifically, and declares that there are no Sumner County schools ranked as failing by any metric used by the state of Tennessee. That is simply NOT TRUE!! In fact, the exact same metric used by the Tennessee Department of Education to seek to close Tennessee Virtual Academy for getting three straight level 1 scores on the TVAAS measuring scale, using TCAP scores, ranks not one, not two, not three, but FOUR Sumner County Schools in the “failing” category. That’s right FOUR failing schools according to the Haslam Administration. They are Westmoreland, Rucker, Knox Doss and Station Camp Middle Schools. Below are the screen shots of the State of Tennessee’s score sheet for several of the schools. Three straight ones over the past three years. On a scale of 1-5. Confused, or misled? The residents of Sumner County might be confused by the false statements of the Superintendent, but what is HIS excuse?? The information is right here in black, white and blue.
