WEEKEND WAR PORN: “BREAKING THE SILENCE” OF PTSD.

As more and more of our country’s brave soldiers assimilate back to civilian life after tours in Afghanistan or Iraq, learning to cope with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD becomes a real problem for these soldiers and their families. Check out this multipart series called “Breaking the Silence” that speaks to soldiers with PTSD and hope they cope with the disorder.

(YOUTUBE) - This series gives a voice to combat veterans who have had a difficult time re-adjusting to life at home whether it be from PTSD, an OSI (operational stress injury), or physical injury.

There are a lot of vets who prefer not to talk about tour, and I completely understand that. Not everyone who experiences combat comes home “broken” or automatically has PTSD. However for those who are struggling with unresolved issues from tour, it’s important for them to know that they aren’t alone, or “weak”.

PTSD has gotten a really bad name throughout the ranks due primarily to those who fake it to benefit from the system. The guys who have genuine issues are often lumped into that same category regardless of physical or mental toughness.

Hopefully the loud voice this platform and community have can reach those who are on the edge, ready to give up.
