DEMOCRAT MAJORITY LEADER CALLS FOR INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION OF THP SCANDAL.

Rep. Gary Odom doesn't think the Tennessee Highway Patrol can be trusted to investigate itself. He's right! There are perhaps 300 people who have been "checked" in the crime database by a THP officer who has previously shown himself to be a lapdog for the Bredesen Administration when he "fixed" a ticket for the top deputy of the Governor. Now he has been digging up dirt on as many as 300 Tennesseans, presumably as part of an "enemies list" developed by the Bredesen team. The Governor has been ducking the issue, and until we see the list of names it is hard to know if the THP is checking out state employees, political critics of the Governor, or whether some other motive led to the improper use of crime data. Call the Governor on Monday at 615-741-2001 and demand that his Administration release the list NOW! The longer they cover this up, the more likely the Governor cranks up the shredders again and hides the truth. |
